Operational Managers for Digital Mi’kmaq’s Digital Maker Labs

Digital Mi’kmaq is looking for part-time Operational Managers for our permanent Digital Mi'kmaq Maker Labs throughout Nova Scotia*. This is a part-time $20/hr position averaging 10-12 hrs/wk. The Digital Maker Labs will offer programs that encompass various STEAM areas, including animation, computer science, engineering, big data, short film making, robotics and artificial intelligence. These STEAM-focused programs will operate out of our new fully-resourced Digital Maker Labs in communities across Nova Scotia.

*We are currently hiring Operational Managers in Millbrook and Bear River.

Responsibilities for these roles include:

  • Participating in the Digital Mi’kmaq training sessions for the room’s management

  • Supporting the Digital Mi’kmaq’s Communications and Outreach team to promote various events and workshops

  • Maintaining daily records on the resources in the room

  • Maintaining strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence

  • Ensuring students have great learning experiences

  • Ensuring that all the Maker Lab resources are ready for educators and subject experts who will come in to deliver programs

  • Inputting data and surveys in areas that capture the number of students utilizing the rooms and the feedback/interest of the programs being delivered

  • Working well with others and supporting educators in the room’s facilitation

About you:

  • You have a G Class Drivers License and your own vehicle.

  • You will complete a criminal check prior to being hired.

  • You care deeply about (the quality of your role) delivering excellence to Mi’kmaq children and youth.

  • You are comfortable working with technology in a creative learning environment.

  • You enjoy working with youth and have participated in youth-focussed programming.

  • You get along well with others and have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • You are a problem solver who will be willing to troubleshoot any technical complications.

  • You bring solid organizational skills.

  • You are respectful, culturally aware, honest and reliable.
